This past Monday, SWE-UCR hosted Facebook as part of their diversity recruiting event. Facebook and SWE-UCR have a great relationship due to their common goal of getting more women engineers in the workforce. SWE-UCR and Facebook have had a great partnership over the years. We help them with recruiting events such as the one just passed. They generously help us by sending us guest speakers at our events to advise our members who would like to work with Facebook in the future.
UC Riverside is one of Facebook’s “schools of interest” because of our amazingly, diverse student population. Facebook pays us a visit every year to meet with potential candidates. At the event, Facebook was directly targeting women and Hispanics.
Facebook was at UCR for a two day event. The first day was an informational session and an opportunity for candidates to have their resumes reviewed by Facebook engineers. The second day was a coding lab and interview prep.
SWE officers volunteered during the event by helping pass out food. Our very own president, Sirina Nabhan, was called to the mic on the first day to talk about SWE’s relationship with Facebook.
Facebook will be back on November 22nd. Next time, they will possibly be conducting interviews.
